Christian Dell

Christian Dell (1893–1974) was a pioneering German designer known for his innovative metalwork and lighting designs. From 1922 to 1925, he led the metal workshop at the Bauhaus in Weimar, where he developed a groundbreaking design style. In 1926, Dell began sketching lamp designs, mainly for the lighting manufacturer Gebr. Kaiser & Co. in Neheim Hüsten.

His most iconic creation, the 6631 Luxus table lamp, first appeared in the company’s 1936 catalog. It quickly became the flagship of the KAISER idell series and remains a symbol of refined design, exceptional material quality, and precise engineering.

Dell’s work exemplifies the Bauhaus ethos—uniting aesthetics with functionality—and continues to be celebrated as a milestone in 20th-century industrial design.
