Giotto Stoppino
Giotto Stoppino (1926–2011) was an influential Italian architect, urban planner, and pioneer in plastic furniture design. A three-time winner of the prestigious Compasso d’Oro award, he was celebrated for his bold, modern approach to industrial design.
Stoppino was a prolific designer, creating numerous iconic pieces that blended form, function, and innovation. His most recognized works include the Tavolo Impilabile side tables (1968), Maia chair (1969), Bino lamp (1969), Alessia chair (1970), Portariviste magazine rack (1972), and the Sheraton sideboard (1979).
He was known for his imaginative use of materials—especially plastic—during a period when designers were redefining modern living. Stoppino’s work remains influential, admired for its originality, fluid shapes, and enduring relevance in contemporary design.
