Poul Henningsen

Poul Henningsen (1894–1967) was a Danish designer, architect, writer, and journalist who revolutionized lighting design. He believed in the power of light to influence well-being and focused on creating lamps that combined functionality with aesthetics. His goal was to provide glare-free, evenly distributed illumination that enhanced daily life.

Henningsen’s most famous creation, the PH series, was developed in collaboration with Danish lighting company Louis Poulsen. These lamps used a groundbreaking multi-shade system to eliminate glare and create harmonious lighting, earning him international recognition.

Beyond his innovative designs, Henningsen was an influential cultural critic and writer, challenging norms and advocating for progress.
