Carl Thore | Granhaga | Trava

Rare lamp designed by the Swedish designer Carl Thore and produced in the 1960s by the Swedish lamp manufacturer Granhaga Metall Industri. In very good condition with minor signs of use.

This lamp comes from the so-called “Trava” series, a series of lamps consisting of stacked lampshades.

This is probably the smallest Trava model that was made. The model itself is already rare because consumers preferred a lamp of a larger size. The original red color makes this lamp extremely rare.

Dimensions: 19 cm diameter, 20 cm height.

E27 fitting.

Carl Thore
Sigurd ‘Carl Thore’ Lindkvist was born in Åmål, Sweden in 1916. In 1961 he joined Granhaga Metallindustri as Head of Sales & Lighting Design. Lindkvist adopted the pseudonym Carl Thore when presenting his lamps to a customer. Lindkvist did not want to reveal his identity as a designer to the customer and instead used his two middle names. From then on the lamps were labelled “Carl Thore Design”. Lindkvist remained with the company until he retired in 1981. Today the Trava lamp is the most popular and widely distributed of Lindkvist’s Carl Thore lamp designs.
