Red Eclisse lamp, designed by Vico Magistretti in 1965 and produced since by Artemide.
The lamp is made of a red painted aluminium globe on top of a half round base.
The inner shell of the shade can be rotated and used as diffuser which creates an exciting lighting effect.
Dimensions are height 17,8 cm and width 11,4 cm.
The Eclisse lamp is inspired by the astronomical phenomenon of the same name: by sliding the inner shell, it is possible to vary the intensity of the light. Completely uncovered, the lamp emits direct light and can be used for reading; when instead it is completely covered, only the external glow remains, reminiscent of that of a total solar eclipse.
Eclisse is part of the permanent collection of the most important design Museums, amongst many the MoMa in New York and the Triennale Design Museum in Milan.
